Killswitch Engage est un groupe de métal américain, qui a fait son apparition en 1999. Originaire du Massachusetts, la formation est née de la réunion des membres de différents groupes sous l'impulsion du bassiste Mike D'Antonio (ex Overcast). Il est rejoint à la guitare par Adam Dutkiewitz et Joel Stroetzel (ancien batteur et guitariste de Aftershock), par le chanteur Jesse Leach (ex Corin et Nothing Stays Gold) et le batteur Tom Gomes. Le groupe de métal entame sa carrière musicale en assurant la première partie de la tournée de In Flames. En 2000, Killswitch Engage sort son premier album, au titre éponyme. L'année suivante, ils signent sur le prestigieux label Roadrunner et planchent déjà sur leur second opus. Alive Or Just Breathing arrive dans les bacs en 2002, accompagné d'une longue tournée internationale. 2 ans plus tard, Killswitch Engage revient avec l'album The End of Heartache.

Créé en 1988 à Buffalo ( New York) par Herren Chris Barnes (chant), Bob Rusay et Jack Owen aux grattes, Alex Webster à la basse et Paul Mazurkiewicz derrière ses fûts, Cannibal Corpse se fait rapidement une réputation de gros méchants dans le milieu du métal.
"Si le vomi était un film, ce serait la bande sonore" déclare un journal en parlant du groupe.
C'est dans cette ambiance festive que le groupe enregistre une première démo qui leur permet de décrocher un contrat avec Metal Blade Records dès 1989.
En 1990 sort leur premier album : Eaten Back to Life.
Le groupe continue sa boucherie en sortant Butchered at Birth en 1991 puis Tomb of the Mutilated en 1992.
Le guitariste Bob Rusay se fait licencier en 1993 et c'est Rob Barrett (ex-Malevolent Creation) qui prend sa place.
Cannibal Corpse s'offre alors un petit délire avec Jim carey dans Ace Ventura: Pet Detective.
En 1994 le nouvel opus The Bleeding voit le jour. Relativement plus accecible, c'est le premier album enregistré avec Barrett et le dernier avec Barnes.
L'ex chanteur de Monstrosity, George "Corpsegrinder" Fisher, prend la relève, Barrett quitte à son tour la formation en 1997 (remplacé par Pat O'Brien) et en 1998 Gallery of Suicide est dans les bacs.
L'année suivante c'est au tour de Bloodthirst de faire son apparition.
Pour fêter l'an 2000, nos cinq bouchers publient un live (cd/cassette) nommé ni plus ni moins, Live Cannibalism.
En 2002 Cannibal Corpse dévoile son nouvel album : Gore Obsessed.
Deux ans passent et c'est au tour de The Wretched Spawn d'être publié.
